What is data mining?Data mining is a process that is performed with the purpose of identifying useful and valuable knowledge in available data. The process is general and is in principle the same regardless of the field where it is applied. It always starts with a goal of improving something or making something more effective, one or more direct questions related the goal, and a collection of data related to that something. Starting from the questions, the data is structured in a way that makes it possible for software to be put on the task to automatically sift for valuable information. After the software has been applied to the data to answer the questions, the results should be carefully validated in order to ascertain that the goals can be met, before they are deployed to the organization and the real improvement is obtained.
Our product, Rule Discover System™ (RDS™), is software for the most important steps in this process, i.e. when going from well-structured data with a well-defined question associated, to new insights as well as deployment of the results.
With RDS™ Modeling Edition you should without any particular skills be able to analyse your data and get help to automatically identifying potentially valuable patterns in your data, and also develop highly accurate and sophisticated predictive models. These models can then be put to work within an organization by integration into a data handling infrastructure using RDS™ Deployment Edition. Such an infrastructure could e.g. be a web-portal or some other application used by the people of the organization in their daily work.
